Live U.S. benchmark: the U.S. EIA weekly retail on-highway diesel price (USD/gal), series EMD_EPD2D_PTE_NUS_DPG. Fetched on demand, cached briefly, stamped with the week it represents and when it was retrieved.
US state prices (EIA): live weekly retail on-highway diesel prices by state, fetched from the EIA v2 petroleum pricing API in a single bulk request. States not individually tracked in the EIA weekly series fall back to approximate planning-reference values (labeled "ref." in the table).
Live Canadian national price: monthly retail diesel prices from Statistics Canada (Table 18-10-0001-01). The price is the most recent monthly average for Canada (retail pump price, CAD/L including taxes) and is labeled with the month it represents. Data is released approximately 6 weeks after the reference month.
