Data sources & how to read this page
U.S. benchmark: the EIA weekly retail on-highway diesel series EMD_EPD2D_PTE_NUS_DPG (USD/gal), from the EIA API when configured or FRED's GASDESW mirror otherwise. The period and OTR retrieval time are reported separately.
U.S. service areas: EIA weekly retail diesel rows identify their coverage. California is the state-level series; other mapped rows are PADD regional averages, not state-level prices. Missing values stay unavailable rather than using undated references.
Canadian national price: Statistics Canada Table 18-10-0001-01 monthly retail diesel for the exact Canada geography is shown only when that source observation exists. No average of selected cities is presented as a national figure.
Canadian provincial coverage: Statistics Canada selected-city monthly observations are currently unavailable. No undated reference price is substituted.
Fuel surcharge estimator: a planning aid based on Canadian ¢/L pricing. FSC percentages are indicative references; every carrier sets its own FSC schedule. Always confirm the applicable FSC with your carrier before quoting freight.

Provincial rows average only the disclosed selected cities/city groups, not every station or a province-wide observation. Monthly comparisons use only the preceding calendar month. Missing source data remain unavailable; no undated diesel fallback is supplied.
