Legal-Dimension Open-Deck Freight

Building Materials Flatbed Transportation

OTR coordinates lumber and compatible bundled materials, roofing and siding products, scaffolding, building systems and precast materials within legal dimensions and weight. The cargo configuration and delivery site determine which open-deck option may fit.

Prepare the material specifications

Supply piece or bundle counts, packaged length, width and height, and verified total weight. Identify stacking restrictions, fragile finished surfaces and concentrated loads. Legal-dimension precast still needs equipment and weight-distribution review for the specific route.

Delivery-site access and appointments

Confirm forklift or crane loading and unloading methods, side or top access, site entrance restrictions and available unloading space. Share appointment windows, site contacts and delivery sequence. Receiving equipment and personnel should be arranged before the truck arrives.

Weather protection for materials

Confirm which lumber, roofing, siding or finished building products need tarps or other shipper-specified protection. Provide tarp sizes, sharp-edge information and safe loading-site and unloading-site requirements before carrier assignment. Tarping does not guarantee protection against every weather condition.

Canada and Canada–U.S. supply lanes

OTR sources suitable capacity for legal-dimension, legal-weight materials across Canada and Canada–U.S. lanes, subject to equipment and availability. We coordinate transport documents and milestones with your appointed customs broker, not customs brokerage. Oversized, overweight and permit-required shipments are excluded.

OTR coordinates legal-dimension and legal-weight flatbed and open-deck freight only. OTR does not arrange oversized, overweight or permit-required shipments. Planning references are not an engineered securement design, legal advice, approval or a release determination. The motor carrier and driver remain responsible for final cargo securement and regulatory compliance.
