Machinery and Equipment Flatbed Transportation

OTR sources suitable carrier capacity for skid-mounted, crated and compatible industrial machinery. Manufacturing and agricultural equipment is assessed against the actual cargo specifications, equipment, route and availability—not every machine fits legal-dimension equipment.

Specifications before equipment selection

Provide each piece’s length, width, height and verified weight, including its skid, crate and attachments. Include centre-of-gravity information when applicable and manufacturer handling instructions. A 48-foot or 53-foot flat deck or step deck may suit the shipment; actual capacity depends on equipment, axle configuration, weight distribution, route and applicable requirements.

Loading, unloading and site access

Confirm forklift, crane, side-loading or top-loading requirements at both ends. Identify lifting arrangements, unloading equipment, site access, overhead clearance, ground conditions and appointments before carrier assignment. Shippers prepare machinery and secure loose components; the assigned carrier and driver assess final securement.

Weather protection and carrier coordination

Confirm tarp dimensions, sharp edges, covers and weather-sensitive components before booking. OTR communicates the shipper’s handling and protection requirements to the carrier; tarping is not protection against every condition.

Canada and Canada–U.S. movements

For compatible legal-dimension, legal-weight machinery, OTR coordinates pickup, delivery and transportation documents with the customer’s appointed customs broker when applicable. OTR does not provide customs brokerage. Oversized, overweight or permit-required machinery is outside our service scope.

OTR coordinates legal-dimension and legal-weight flatbed and open-deck freight only. OTR does not arrange oversized, overweight or permit-required shipments. Planning references are not an engineered securement design, legal advice, approval or a release determination. The motor carrier and driver remain responsible for final cargo securement and regulatory compliance.
